The so called "GodFather" of Australian golf passed away on May 20, 2007.
In an interview recorded in the year before he passed away, The Von noted only 4 things of importance in a good golf swing, 2 of which I list here because I feel they are important and would welcome discussion...
The Grip should be comfortable and simply square the club at impact.
The backswing should only go as far back as you are capable of going back comfortably.
From there, The Von would only have you swing through to your finishing position, all but disregarding impact itself, other than saying that the SOUND of impact was all you needed to hear in order to know if you had hit a good one or not.
Brett Ogle (Australian PGA pro) is quoted as saying that one day whilst hitting balls on the range he was approached by The Von and simply by listening to the sound of impact he would then say "5 right Brett" or "10 Left Brett" and each and every time, he was right....
Australian golf is much the worse for The Von's passing..........
