    The St. Jude Championship at the TPC Southwind is underway. What does "TPC" stand for? See it frequent in the golf course names

      Normal golf courses use it as: "Tournament Players Club"...TPC But there is a "The Players Championship" the pros play as one of the majors as LP42 said.

              Here's a history. The company that I am with has a corporate TPC membership.


              Built with both the players and spectators in mind...this is championship golf at it's best! Beginning as mere sketches on a paper napkin, Deane Beman's dream of bringing Stadium Golf to the landscape was brought to fruition in 1980 with the opening of TPC Sawgrass, home of THE PLAYERS Championship. During the last 23 years, golfers at TPC Clubs have played ten million rounds of golf. In addition, TPC CLubs have hosted more than 205 PGA TOUR, Champions Tour, and Nationwide Tour events, and are generally recognized by the golf industry and golfers alike as some of the finest golf courses in the country. TPCs have earned this reputation by consistently delivering a "high-quailty, service-oriented golf experience." Since 1968, over 78 Golf World Business Magazine's "Top 100 Golf Shop Operations in America" awards have been won by Tournament Players Clubs. In addition, 18 TPCs have received certification in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program which recognizes environmental excellence. TPCs continue to build on a history of tradition and excellence in golf.
              With the most recent opening of TPC Valencia in Valencia, California, the TPC Netwrok has grown to include 23 TPC Clubs and four Licensed TPC Clubs. The following provides a list of the TPC Network Facilities and their locations

                  Ialways thought it was "The Player's Course". Like "The Player's Course at Sawgrass. I guess I was wrong.
