    british summer

    WTF is this weather about!
    because my home course is closed again i sought out a muni course not far from my home.
    i approached the 1st tee in warm sunny weather with a bit of cloud about but nothing threatening.
    the greens were fine though the fairways were a little wet
    anyhow im enjoying my round i get to the 12th and its clouding over and there are small spots of rain coming. i play the hole in light drizzle as im walking to the 13th its suddenly black and then the heavens opened what followed was 30 minutes of torrential rain,hail, thunder and lightening by the the time id legged it back to clubhouse i was drenched to the skin!

    I was in Charlotte, NC a few weeks ago and was at the range with a good set of 100+ balls ready for a good session and light sprinkles were all that was going on. I said, no problem as long as there's no lightning.

    This range was a good hike from the clubhouse and they have to drive you out there. They guy said he would come back if it started to get heavier.

    It did get heavier with lightning, and no guy. I hid under a tree for 15 minutes until the tree was dripping as heavy as the outside. I sprinted from tree to tree in between lightning strikes. There was a tournament that day (why I was hitting 100+ balls and not playing) and spied a tent! Yea. I made my way there, rested for about 5 minutes, figured it has to stop then I can get to my car. Well, 2 guys from the tournament arrived and said they had to take the tent down...I said "thanks" and ran to my car. (Did I mention I left my umbrella in the trunk for some stupid reason?). I was as wet as I have ever been...like jumping in a lake.

    I'm never leaving my umbrella again.

          The SE corner of England isn't too bad at the moment! We've had our fair share of rain, but the thing that's pi$$in me off at the moment is the unrelenting wind. I can practice a lot under cover anyway, so the rain doesn't bother me too much

          I'm getting ticked off with practicing into a 5 club wind. I go out on the course and can't figure my yardages at all! I'm becoming quite adept at the punch shot though!

          Come on Summer! The days are getting shorter already!

          Here's hoping for an Indian one.

            Bit risky hiding under trees in lightning!!

            Hope your umbrella does n't have a metal point in case it lightens again!

              You guys are getting away with murder!!

              Last week I went to the club for a saturday singles. My partner and I started out in drizzle. By the third the greens were covered so much you could have put goldfish in them. We ended up in the clubhouse having tea. I would love to know what is going on with the weather pattern.

                This has been the worst summer ever !

                The last five Sundays are as follows:

                Course Closed
                Played 18 holes on a waterlogged course
                Course Closed
                Played 16 holes, (1 & 2 were closed )
                Played 18 Holes on a waterlogged course and it was raining !

                  was invited to play in another clubs open today it was a lovely course but it pi**ed down the whole 4 hours we were playing!

                    Rain sucks.
                    I would be going stir crazy.
                    I get cabin fever every winter.

                    The weather here has been awsome. High of 82 today with a slight breeze and Low humidity.Its supposed to be 95 tomorrow though.....I will have to get 18 in early.

                    Hope you guys get dried out soon.

                      It was an early September morning a couple of years ago when we played the championship course at Carnoustie. I was on one of my frequent trips over to Scotland to visit my family after being there for a week, enjoying some excellent weather, I was looking forward to our trip up to Carnoustie. We were on the first tee shortly after 8am. clear skies, mild temperatures and no breeze, I felt the swing was good and after a lucky chip in birdie on the sixth I was two over, not bad on that course. The weather changed in a heartbeat, a howling gale off the North Sea, driving rain, I was on the tee on the 9th. a quick snap hook o.b. a well struck third shot with the driver went about 150 yards, a pulled 3 wood into a brutal bunker, a 7 iron from 95yards never got close to the green. I got on in seven and two putted for my nine, oh well that's golf in Scotland, the weather improved as we were finishing our round, I hit a nice approach for my third shot on 18 and two putted for my bogey ( I bet Van de Velde would have loved that ) a couple of pints of fine Scottish ale afterwards made it a most enjoyable day,,,,,,very interesting indeed.
