Out of bounds or not
While playing a par 3, I hit my drive long into the next hole, but goes through the tee box and goes between two white stakes. The next hole is a dogleg left par 5. The stakes are there to try to keep you from cutting the corner. My question is , is the ball still out of bounds since the markers are there for the next hole. Secondly, would the ball have to roll between the stakes or in front of the first one.

If I have understood your layout
1) Unless a local rule says that the area is OB only when playing a particular hole, it is OB wherever you play from
2) It sounds as if the OB is badly marked. The first post should have some sort of indication at right angles to the line of other posts to show the limit of the area. I would suggest there is an implied boundary there and that if your ball crossed that 'line' and is now behind the line between posts 1 and 2 it is OB. -

A course I play has a "safety" out of bounds that is only considered out of bounds off the first tee. This is to discourage players from cutting the dogleg corner and hitting golfers in the 9th fairway. When returning to the club house on the 9th hole, the white stakes are not considered ob.Comment

My understanding is that the score card should give some indication if it is just out of bounds for hole #2 or otherwise.Comment

From the rules - definitions...
So "Out of bounds" relates to "the course" and not to "the hole"."Out of bounds" is beyond the boundaries of the course or any part of the course so marked by the Committee.
When out of bounds is defined by reference to stakes or a fence or as being beyond stakes or a fence, the out of bounds line is determined by the nearest inside points of the stakes or fence posts at ground level excluding angled supports.
Objects defining out of bounds such as walls, fences, stakes and railings, are not obstructions and are deemed to be fixed.
When out of bounds is defined by a line on the ground, the line itself is out of bounds.
The out of bounds line extends vertically upwards and downwards.
A ball is out of bounds when all of it lies out of bounds.
A player may stand out of bounds to play a ball lying within bounds.
You can use out of bounds markers to seperate parallel holes and only be out of bounds in one direction and not in the other, but surely, a ball hit from a third parallel hole, crossing the second parallel hole and landing on the fairway of the first parallel hole is out of bounds if there is a marker defining out of bounds between holes #2 and #1.Comment
