Re: Oh what have I done???? HELP

    Great report mate,

Glad you had a great time and it does look like you had the weather luck on your side. I would be running away from the club house smiling and framing my score card if I shot a 107 there Well Done!!!! If you look at some of the comps they had some of the pros score 107 at this course.

Once again Well done and how do I get a freebie like that lol (Probably hold the bank manger hostage i guess)

    Cheers

Great report and glad you had a great day out.

I played a beautiful course called La Bete (the beast) a few years back and was so consumed with scoring and not making a fool of myself that I forgot to take in the scenery and really enjoy the round. My scoring suffered and I shot a dismal 120. What I failed to understand was that the slope rating of this course was higher than I was used to and my score if I played well would have been more like 105-108. I was really dissappointed with myself for passing up the opportunity to really enjoy myself at a great course so when I played another one the next day (La Belle), I instead focussed on just enjoying the scenery and bingo I hit a nice 105 (was good for me at the time at a +30 HCP) and really enjoyed myself.

Lesson learned, just enjoy yourself, that is why you play, the scoring will come much easier than if you plod from shot to shot head down worrying about the score. You gotta keep your head up and smell the flowers.

I think I can speak for everyone here in saying how unutterably jealous we are. Great report, great to read. Would be well happy with a 107 - don't have to think too hard to take that on my home course, never mind Wentworth. Good job, dude. Really glad you enjoyed it.

This won't be popular with the boss, but doesn't this (and Slat's recent thread) make you hanker after the old journal system? No problem with the more button, and everyone can respond easily? Hey ho... Patience, I know...

Great experience and congrats on the good game, especially the bunker shot. Thanks for the interesting report.

              Wentworth Part 2

Returned to the East Course at Wentworth today; a mixture of good news and not so good.

A beautful bright and sunny day but cold cold cold (for England in October at least) -1 at 7:36 with a freezing fog, the temperature had risen by the time we teed off at 10:20 but between the cold and the wet fairways the course was probably playing 1 - 2 clubs longer than in July - something it took this dummy a few holes to appreciate.

As per my plea for practical mental tips we played with my bogey man but for the first time ever my game didn't fall apart - for totally inexplicable reasons I've had rounds 120+ on relatively easy courses with this guy.

So I was pleased with that and with the fact that I held my embyonic "flatter" driver swing together until the 15th (big big pull onto the 14th fairway and even then I scrambled a double) and then the 18th when with my mate 3 off the tee one creamer would see me take the spoils - ah well

Putted pretty much to regulation as against the 40+ppr last time - which was a little reward for 20 minutes on the practice green trying to come to terms with the speed.

Sadly only beat my previous effort by two shots - an iffy short game wasn't helped by 4 blow up holes; as you might have guessed from the comment above the 18th, but also 8 9 & 11 which accumulated 12 over between them - which was devastating to my self confidence because I was only just outside my target for bogey golf for the first 7.

Still, an improvement, if only slight, in less favourable conditions and some encouragement with the driver.

Good news on the driver Robin. Fog can be so disorientating, especially on a strange course.

                Onwards and upwards.
