Re: Does brand of ball matter for high 'cappers?

Presumably,if they're porous - that must mean they let water out as well as in? Accordingly, I guess it must be possible for lake balls to eventually dry out? This probably isn't helped well they're wrapped in plastic, but it would be interesting to see in the Today's Golfer test the effect of leaving tem in the airing cupboard for a month afterwards?

Forgot to say - I did actually achieve a joint PB yesterday with the new balls, and that was a round of 28 putts. This was, I feel, less due to the NXT Tours and more due to chipping out twice - once from 40 feet 3 birdies!

Club medal today - we'll see what Grandad Fate, Old Man Par and Lady Luck have in store for me...

Interesting article about golf balls and compression: The Best Buy in Golf? It's low-price balls. Here's why Golf Digest - Find Articles

I was especially surprised to read that the compression of the Titleist NXT is the same as that of the Precept Lady.

Well, what can I possibly add that hasn't been said? I play new balls and carry some shags in case my swing disappears (and the round is shot, anyway).

I'm currently in love with the TopFlite Strata TL Tour (since Callaway acquired TopFlite and these balls are decent performers). They play just as well for me as Callaway HX Tour 56's in terms of distance, and spin a little less on greens (but not much).

Personally, I look for spin balls, as I don't often factor in run in my shots.

          hi lowpost
i like the new top flight "T" balls too, there a good mix of distance and spin and if you dont lose them last a long time too, they dont fly as high as the top flight balls of 10 years ago but that not a bad thing.
