    Hey Slats!

Not sure on where a witches tit fits on the Beaufort scale but guess it is close to a golf ball in a sock.

Remember the law of fives mate!

Slats, just remember that you probably won't need a PB to win it so don't go forcing the game.

From your recent posts clearly you are getting your tee shot away so just remember that with your handicap the 2nd dosn't have to nestle a foot from the flag; the middle of the green will do, or even if missing the green comes with a big penalty then lay up and pitch on.

Good luck mate anmd enjoy it.

              Have at 'er Slats.

FWIW, most witches I've seen are actually quite buxom. Time for a new reference to flat, I guess.

                victory cup final 01/08/07
dont get off to a good start as the pro is giving a lesson using the net, so thats my routine bolloxed before i even start, so i do some putting practice then do some stretching.
                okay here goes
                1) 162yd par3 SI 16.
just off the green pin high, chipped to 2 feet and putted for a 3.a good start!
                2) 399yd par4 SI 8
pulled the driver slightly in the 2nd cutbut the ball is sat well down, hit a wedge 70yds up the fairway then got a pitch of 100 to go, then the fun and games start i hit my 1st ever sh*nk it goes off into the woods and end up behind a tree.no real shot to the green chip out then chip onto the green 2 putts and end up with a 7
                3) 504yds par 5 SI 6
hit another pulled drive (where has my driver form gone) i hit a 8 iron lay up and then pw into green sadly takes 3 putts to get down but a 6 is just about okay
                4) 259yds par 4 SI 18
not as easy as the stroke index suggests! you have to shoot over a gully through a narrow gap in the trees and the fairway is always sloping away from the green. 3 wood went straight for about 150 and then shot off left, had to play a provisional as the ball was lost, fluffed pitch, fluffed chip 2 putts for a 7
                5) 371yds par4 SI 12
nice drive down the middle, 8iron short of green, 1chip, 1 putt for a 4
                6) 417yds par4 SI 4
yet again pulled drive into rough hack out with pw,hybrid short and left of green 2 fluffed chips 2 putts for a 7
                7) 349yds par4 SI 14
stonking 3 wood down the middle, pw to the front edge of green, lagged a putt to a couple of inches, tap in for a 4
                8) 439yds par SI 2
pulled driver, stuck behind tree, chip onto fairway overdo the lay up and end up in hazard blah blah end up with an 8
                9) 180yds par3 SI 10
this really is one tricky hole! water all way down the right, banking all down the left with deep rough. topped 5iron, to back of green,1 chip 2 putts for a 5
so that totals a demoralising 16 over par 51
i just cannot get my tempo sorted, i resign myself to the fact that its another comp slipping away
after a drink of water and a ciggie we set to the tenth................
                10) 419yds par4 SI 7
hit a solid drive about 250, hybrid gets short and right of the green 1 chip 2 putts for a 5
                11) 413yds par4 SI 3
good drive, lay up and then pw to back of green, 2 putts for a 5
                12) 206yds par3 SI 11
5 wood just short and right 1 chip 2 putts for a 4
                13) 397yds par4 SI 9
cracking drive, 9 iron onto green 2 putts for a 4
                14) 153yds par3 SI 17
just off green left pin high, leave chip short 2 putts for a 4
                15 536yds par5 SI 1
good drive down the middle, topped 5 wood and then blocked hybrid to right side of green, under trees so no pitch shot so i chip back towards back end of green 2 putts for a 6
                16) 388yds par4 SI 5
                hit a solid 3wood pulled a 9 iron 1 chip 2 putts for a 5
                17) 503yds par5 SI 13
blocked a drive to the right played a lay up 8 iron, under did the pitch shot. 1 chip 2 putts for a 6
                18) 157yds par3 SI 15
hit a purler of a 7 iron soon as it left the club i knew it was good, it stopped on a sixpence and when i got up there it was 6 or 7 inches away tap in for a birdie and a share of the 2's kitty
                a back 9 six over par 41
so in the end ive shot 92 less my 22 h/cap equals nett par but it could have been so much better and lack of pre round warm up routine is a factor in that.
there were 120 players in the comp when i left at 6pm with scores still to come in i was in 4th place!

Re: smoke me a kipper.........part deux

Perhaps you did need a PB after all

Seriously though, well done mate. Probably top 10 at worst when all scores are in.

Played to handicap IN COMP with a fair bit left on the course by the sounds of it, so in a way you can't complain too much and next time it can only get better.

Looks good to me. I bet it was gratifying to feel your game coming together in the back nine.

                        Slats,

Sounds like the back nine were exactly to my even 5's plan. Now if you could keep that way of playing you would be breaking 90 with ease.

Good game mate, what sounds good is that your recoveries are getting smart.

                          hi brian
i had your 5's plan in mind mate
ive never played so many bad shots like that, on another day i could have shot very low 80's.
the 2 on 18 and my playing partners compliments eased the pain of the front nine

managed my usual 43! 8 shots better than yesterday
shame just 24 hours too late
