I had to kill 2.5 hours in the major golf shop/range in Bristol today
hard times... But I made the best of it
I compared my driver with the Callway FT-i and the Nike SuMo^2 and didn't hit either of them any further than my cheap square Slazenger Blockbuster. Literally, to the nearest few yards, they were all the same.
I also learned I need a draw set up in a driver like a half inch bore hole in the base of my skull.
I then went inside and annoyed the nice friendly staff by A-B'ing all the Ping putters one by one. I don't know why, but I wanted to see how I fared with the more blade-style ones - at the moment, I have a Nike Oz t-130 - great putter, and there's nothing wrong with how I'm playing with it (though I discovered this week that RyanAir do not believe you if you hold it upside down and tell them it's a walking stick to try and avoid paying excess baggage charges...), but I'm kind of up for moving over to Ping stuff anyway...
Turned out that the most 'un-mallety' putter I could find had my name all over it, if my name was G5i Tess, which it isn't. I drained so many putts from around 8 feet that the assistant came over to hear what the noise was all about
I seem to have a little too much month left at the end of the money at the moment, but hope to pick this up very soon.
I left with the discovery that this store will send 'my' (read: Ebay bought second-hand) set back for the lie angles to be changed for £25 which I believe is a shipping charge, though I suppose I could just wait for a local Ping day.
Things I have learned recently:
I like Ping stuff. It sparkles nicely
My name is Tess
I cannot hit 3 woods or 2 Hybrids off the deck consistently
Nice stuff makes me feel better, which is nice, but my score depends more on the moons and the tides
Big event nerves never go away (committee invitational and tough quarter final matchplay coming up)
I still love golf, and there STILL aren't enough hours in the day
