  • Pushing them Right

Hi Guys new member find this site really helps, I used to play heaps when I was a young bloke and the game seamed to come natural, I hadn't played for about 15 years and in the meantime football injuries, Busted shoulder, have taken that natural ability away.

I started playing in a social club (every second Sunday) about 14 months ago, I was bloody shocking, they gave me 27 and I stayed there for most of this year.

I bought a new set of clubs 5 months ago ( Arnold Palmer) and they have helped my game heaps.

The question I have for you guys is, Although my swing has improved plenty over the last year I seem to pushing the ball to the right 70% of the time, this includes my Drives, I have tried really hard to bring my right leg around but it doesn't seem to want to come all the way around.

Is this my problem and should I be adjusting the direction of my stance so that I'm aiming left of my target?

    Thanks guys

    Steve,

Sounds like your shoulder line is pointing right when you release. Go to the search tab and lookup rope drill. There are 2 one with a 8 foot rope and one witha 4ft. Try both to work on the motion.

The move that is causing this is the weight transfer. At the start of the transition try lifting the right heel off the ground first. This will cause the weight shift and begin to clear the hips before the arms come through with the turning torso. Sounds like your swing is out of sync. Steve, work on getting the lower body turning first and turn your torso all the way to finish, don't stop the rotation short. It's a difficult move.

If you need and clarification I'll be glad to help,

    GolfBald

I had this problem for a while and realised that my shoulders were too "closed" at address. When you address the ball, try opening your shoulders, turning them slightly to the left. Not too much or you'll start slicing. You'll have to experiment a bit until you get it right.

Thanks for the help guys I shot 87 gross nett 69 and won the B grade comp with your advise.

It really helped GolfBald your a ledge, although I only tried the drills for a couple of hours it seemed to fix the problem, I also used the squaring up of the shoulders and it made a difference.

I'm in a Xmas Charity golf day on Thursday let's see if it works a second time around.

Once again thanks for the help!
