    Re: Tiger does it again.

Tiger is the best ever. He competes against golfers that have been through the finest teaching golf academies ever available. From the time they were toddlers the best of the best have gone through years of tutelage. You don't see driving range pros dominating the tour.

Compare that to the self made swing of a Trevino, Furyk, Moe Norman, etc., there's little chance of major success on todays modern tour for a "self taught" swing.

If you don't believe "golf factory schooling" has made a difference in the game, take a look at the LPGA. The graduates of the Korean golf schools are dominating the tour in numbers of players. The American girls haven't been force fed golf their entire lives like the Korean girls have.

      hi
i have to disagree with you sirchopalot in the Angel Cabrera is self taught and he won the us open this year, but i do agree the so many played now look the same and have the same swing and are a product of the US college system. if your not part of the US college system at a young age the its so hard to make it in to the pro league. thats why so many UK player now come over to to the USA.

Bill, would I be correct in thinking you're a fan of Cabrera? Wouldn't have anything to do with him using Ping would it.

          hi Davie
no I'm not really a fan of his but he is now using the new G10 pings, not sure what wedges he using he using but he use to use vokey wedges. seems like most of the ping pro's have changed from there Ping S58's to the new ping G10's. but Angel does hit the ball a very long way.
i am a fan of Lee Westwood, Monty and Bernard langer, and Lee Trevino.

I'm quite surprised that the ping staff players are changing to the G10 irons. I thought the s58's would be better suited to a tour player. Correct me if i'm wrong but the G10 look quite big, not the usual tour play type of iron.

              hi Davie
yes i agree that the S58 are made for the better player (5 handicap and below) where the G10 and the I10 have a bigger face and are more forgiving, it said that most pros have changed to G10s but i think it may be the I10s as there more of a blade than the G10s and have a smaller head and not such a thick sole. the ping site still has many pros using S59 and most changed to S58 a year ago. i know lee Westwood changed to S58 at the start of the year but changed to G10s or I10s. hard to tell the difference on TV but the back was orange so not the rapture irons which are said to be the best irons ping have ever made and are the most expensive to buy.
think it makes more sense for pro's to use the I10s and higher handicap players to use the more forgiving G10s, it is said that ping G10s have the shafts weighted so the shaft is lighter in the long irons and heaver in the short irons, they seem to be the only company doing this at the moment and will have to watch to see if others follow.
