  • The time as come...

Well, the time has come to where I have mentally prepared myself to let go of an old friend. We have had a some great times together and some rough patches, but it has become apparent that a new partner might improve my game... Asta la viesta Driver....

I was at the local driving range, and had a salesperson shove a club at me to try out. He said that he picked up 20 meters by switching to the driver..

I was sceptical to say the least, so I asked him to give me 3 more name brand drivers to compare it to and a bucket of balls.

Pulled out my driver hit three shots, 2 with a slight fade 1 with a draw--all about 280 meters.

Hit the new Callaway ft-5 3 times. All the shots had a slight draw. All the shots were longer, one shot was WAY LONGER... I had to surpress a WOW!

Hit the other clubs, and some of them I hated....

Has anyone used the Callaway fitting system? Is it worthwhile to go to a shop and get on a swing monitor and try different shafts, or just buy the club that worked best for me???

Are there other clubs that someone would like to suggest that I hit if I liked the FT-5?

Just thought that I would check, before I spend some serious money.

If you can find a supplier, try the Orlimar HT series.

    Mind-blowing distance.

CFS is great due to the ability to change shafts on the fly. I am not a huge fan of the drivers, but the idea makes sense.

Look, if you are getting the shot shape you want, the length and the feel, the buy the darn thing. Don't get hung up trying to find the perfect driver, work on making the perfect swing

However, you can't go wrong with Callaway. I have always been a bigger fan of TaylorMade and Cleveland, but that's me.

Were you playing the FT-5 with a draw or neutral bias?
