  • Fairway Woods

I'm in the market for a new 3 or 5 wood, I was keen on the Mizuno Blue Rage but I had a chat with a local pro who said there were problems with these clubs, leading to bad ball flight etc.

Anyone recommend a nice fairway wood, I'm not looking to spend anymore than £100!!

    davewright2k,

You might want to look at a SMT new Solitare design. Diagonal scoring lines on the front. I found then easier to hit than my Adams Tight Lies 2, and I didn't think that was possibe.

I use a set of Blue Rage fairways, and have to say that they are great. I especially bought a 7W when I started, to use on our long par 3's, or when 180+ from the green, because I had trouble reaching with my long irons. Now I've got a bit better, I find that if I make good contact with the 7W I have to be careful not to go long. When I hit the ball square with these clubs, they go for miles and miles.

There's nought wrong with the clubs, only my golf swing.

if i were you i'd save as much as i could and buy myself a callaway steelhead 111, if not a brand new one then the best used one i could find,
in my opinion they are unmatched, the first time i used one it made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck, id never hit a ball so far up the fairway
        all the best
