The main idea in golf as in life I suppose, is to learn to accept what cannot be altered and to keep on doing ones own reasoned and resolute best whether the prospect be bleak or rosy. Bobby Jones
Finally got a job at a golf course and it has done wonders for my game.
Handicap dropped from a 20 to what was a 3.2 during the summer, now that the weather has gotten colder it is up to a 4 but no problem for me, a 16+ stroke improvement is unbelievable. Also had my first round under par, did it twice shot a 1 under on 9 holes and a 2 under on 18 holes.
Driver is great, had my first 18 hole round without losing a single golf ball, actually had many of those too many to count. Distance has improved by atleast 50 yards, the clubs I am hitting into greens now are probably 3-4 clubs less than they were at the start of the season.
Irons, always been a good part of my game, but now are even better. Had my first round where i hit every single GIR, which is tough at the course I work at, shot 2 under in that round best of my life. Had the first eagle of my life, my count is up to 7 I think not sure anymore though lol. Nice to not be able to remember how many eagles I've had.
Wedges, biggest improvement in my mind. Learned to just get it within 10-15 feet and give yourself a good putt at it. During the summer when I was playing almost every day I could get my 60 10 feet for closer about 85% of the time.
Putting, only part of my game that I am upset with. Started lining up the line on the ball to the line that I want to putt on and that has helped a lot, I feel now in the off season that my putting is much better and that I could have shot a lot more rounds under par if I could putt like I am now in the summer.
A lot of new experiences for me this year, met a lot of really great people at the course I'm working at. One of my managers basically changed my whole personality over the summer, I used to be really quiet and never really said anything but now I talk a lot more and talk a lot more trash lol. Golf is a lot more fun for me right now though, my course management has changed a lot with my new abilities. I've learned that it really all comes down to the short game now, I am accurate enough with my driver to where if I can putt and chip well I have a shot to shoot under par every time I go out and play.
Goals for next year: Get to scratch, #1 on my high school golf team, go to the state tournament individually, get a scholorship to any college to play golf.
Overall great year, only can hope next year is half as good

That's by far and away the best rate of improvement I have ever heard of.
You should be very proud of yourself. You must have worked hard.
Now I guess you gotta be prepared to put in twice as much effort for what will seem like tiny improvements, by comparison.

Well done.
Thanks a lot,
yeah I know that now it's not going to be the same. I just really want to get to scratch this summer, I feel that if I just keep working I'll get there. Can never take it easy though gotta go 150% now. This is where it gets hard and little adjustments are the difference between under par and over par. I'm willing to work for it though I love this game and always want to get better.

Good man. Just keep loving the process. The results will come, I'm sure. Time is well on your side mate.
Don't be shy of taking time off from your pursuit of golfing glory. In fact, I would strongly recommend it. I've found that putting the clubs down for a week roughly every 3 or 4 weeks does wonders. Sometimes it's more if I'm on a good roll, sometimes it's less if I'm having a mare. It gives me a chance to revisit some theory, really have a look at myself and keep the hunger and passion there. It also helps to re-focus me, whether I'm doing well or badly.
Seriously consider scheduling yourself, and don't feel bad about taking time off. Always keep the bigger picture in mind.
I'm sure you'll do well. The very best of luck to you.
Thanks, yeah its winter here now so i dont get to play too often, when i do its like playing for the first time again it feels so good. I finished a round and just looked at all the trees and the fairway and stuff, i shot 74, and i was just like wow i miss this game so much.
I'm only 18 so I stll have a long time of lpaying this wonderful game, senior season starting in the spring, last chance to make a name for myself hopefully I'll be able to though.
