  • Golf affecting other aspects of your life

For all you golf addicts out there (like me)... how has golf affected other aspects of your life? Do your non golfing family and friends ever get frustrated that you are always on the golf course? Have you ever missed any important functions to play golf?

I know for me, my family just thinks i am obsessed... but they are happy to see me passionate and happy about something, so they don't mind.

Sometimes my friends get offended if i am playing golf, and therefore can not hang out with them.

    Hello golfEnthusiastic.

    I consider myself very fortunate.

My partner totally understands my desire to play and improve and understands the time it takes in order to accomplish that.

My direct family have always been sporty, so a lot of time in the past has been filled with sports anyway.

It just so happens that my brother and a few close mates also play, so I get to see them at the same time (although far too rarely) and we have atleast one golf holiday per year for a few days.

As long as you can be seen to make time for people as well as your golf, I can't see any problem with that.

I am fortunate in that my wife plays golf and we play together fairly often. We are both members of the same club.

My son also plays golf although he is lives in Chicago so we only manage a game a few times a year at best.

There's a whole darkside to the sport that you haven't seemed to encounter yet...

But I'm certainly obsessed. (4000+ posts isn't a bad thing, is it?)

Playing "walking" golf is a part of my over all exercise routine that helps to keep me healthy enough to enjoy other aspects of my life, with family, and friends. I don't play as well as I use to, but the game has kept me physically active, which is a very positive impact. GJS
