  • Mizuno MP 57 Irons.

    Hi everyone,

I have recently purchased a set of Mizuno MP57 irons (R300) steele shafts. I am a relatively good ball striker playing to a 5 handicap at the present time. I am encountering a bizzare problem with the 3 and 4 iron. For some strange reason both clubs produce a very low ball flight. Off the deck we are talking about 40 feet above ground. From a tee 50 feet. The ball flight barely climbs to tree top height. Prior to purchasing the clubs I demode 5, 7 and wedge as they were the only demo clubs available in the MP57 range. I am able to hit all irons sweetly from 5 up to PW. Why is it that I cannot get the ball airborne with the 3/4 iron.? (I have been fitted for the set )
I used to play callaway x tours and in comparison the 3 /4 irons would soar 90 /100 feet. I am totally at a loss. I have never had a problem in the past getting the ball airborne with the longer irons.
I just wondered if anyone out there have had similar problems with these clubs or could offer some welcomed advice.

    Thank You,
    Bogeygolfer.

Seems strange. I have the MP60's and they seem fine - however I am a sweeper. Shooting in the dark here, but if it's low and slightly left it could be as simple as shaft flex? Or maybe you should try some Lead Tape to change the CG?

While loft specs are the same for both iron sets, I'd still have them checked.

What shaft were you playing in your Callaways? The same? The TT DG's are low-ball shafts.

Mizuno have some great fitting centres and will adjust the clubs free of charge. It may be worth seeing if there is one near you.

How big is the offset in the low irons?

            Cheers guys for your replies.
I have since been out on the practice range for a number of hours over the last few day's hitting balls with these new irons. I am now getting a good trajectory and ball flight with all irons. I can only put it down to them being new and they have a different feel to the Callaways. (panick over).
I really like these irons they seem to be more accurate than the Callaway x tours I was using before.
Once again I thank you all for your advice it is very much appreciated.

            Regards Bogeygolfer.

              Re: Mizuno MP 57 Irons.

              Hi guys,
Just thought I would post an update re my irons. I have had a torrid time over recent months obtaining the right irons. I have finally struck gold. As a junior many years ago I was brought up on playing true blades, cavity backs were not in play. I have sort of gone back in time and changed from the MP57 to Mp 32's stiff shaft. What a difference.
I am striking the ball better now with these beauties then ever before. Pars / birdies at will, long may it continue.
Things are begining to look up for me.
              Best wishes bogeygolfer.
