  • Rifle Shaft Flexes

    Hello!

I'm currently looking into buying a set of Ben Hogan Apex blades but they have Rifle 6.0 stiff shafts.

Now, equipment is a mystery to me, so does anyone out there know how the Rifle 6.0 stiff shapes up against the S300's I currently have? Are they stiffer or about the same?

Don't wanna spend my wonga on a new set only to see the right hand side of the course more often!

    Thanks guys 'n' gals.

It's "S+". But the problem is the stiffness profile is different for the Rifles than for the DG's.

Generally speaking you get a softer feel with a higher ball flight, flex for flex, rifles over DG's.

I knew you'd come to my rescue Lowpost!

So all in all, I wouldn't see that much difference, just more feely and maybe a bit higher. Got it. I'm a low baller anyway at the moment so it should help.

      Cheers ears!

Hi, It depends on which rifle shafts you go for. There are various makes of rifle shafts to choose from.

        Best wishes Bogeygolfer.

Ooh ok. The ones I'm looking at are made by Royal Precision. Does that make a difference? I'm so ignorant.

Unfortunately I don't know what type of shaft it is. I'll try and find out!

              Thanks for the help!

Royal Precision made the rifle brand, much like True Temper makes the Dynamic Gold brand. Now True Temper owns Royal Precision, so the year of manufacture makes a gigantic deal.

If there's no other markings, chances are they're straight Rifles, based on the original system.

                  Hi Neil

I've tried Rifle 6.0 shafts and really struggled with them. The DG S300 IMO are much better bet for a lower ball flight.

Don't want to put you off the Ben Hogan irons but if you want blades you have to go for Mizunos.
