  • golf club handle tackiness

    Hi,

I have just bought a second hand driver (Titleist 975D). Club is good except that the handle is hard and lost all its tackiness. I feel I may get better performance if there is a way to rejuvenate the handles feel (improve softness and tackiness).

Is this possible by any means other than re-gripping it? Have heard something about soaking in soapy water (washing-up liquid). Can you confirm if this helps?

    Thanks,

Yes, wash it with dish soap. But do not submerse the shaft or club in water, just wet a towel, apply a little soap and work it in with the same towel, then rinse with the clean part of the same wet towel. Then dry with a new dry towel.

You don't want any water to get inside the shaft or head...esprcially steel shafts, they will rust and that will weaken the shaft.

Regriping is inepensive, so if you have to do that to 1 club, that is no big deal. But yes, try to clean the grip first.
