I just got a set of Ap1's with the HL R300 shafts and cannot hit them at all. I have no height I skull most if them or ground them. I had a set of Taylormade R7's non Draw and made great contact with them 90% of the time maybe not strait but it was clean contact. They had the t-step 90 reg flex shafts on them. My question is would the ap2's be a better club because they are not so chunky compared to the ap1's. The ap1's feel very chunky almost like the set of 06 Big Berthas i had and could not make clean contact with. I am a 20 handicapper with an 80-83 mph swing speed i am not worried about the forgivness part i just want to make the good contact I had with my R7's. I am not a big fan of the fitting process since I have been stung twice now seems they think every one should have the stiffest shafts as possable. I am 39yrs old a want to enjoy glof without being mad that I cant hit and iron shot. Please help. Thanks, Eric

Re: Titleist ap1 vs ap2
Hi Eric,
You went for the regular shaft and you're still having problem, it seems.
I think the regular is still the right choice.
I would have to believe the problem goes beyond the equipment. I don't believe changing to the AP2 will be of help. The AP2 is less forgiving, being set to tour standards.
You should find a good instructor to look at your swing. That would be money well spent, instead of changing out equipment.
In the meantime, check out the instruction forum for threads with keywords like alignment, topping, skulling, hitting fat, spine alignment, etc. You are not the only one who has similar problems which you are experiencing. Most times, because we are too close to our own swing, we do not recognize and accept the problems. It only takes a hint as to what the problem is, and it may be a minor fix, and the discussions might just flip the switch.
I know for myself, it took a long time to accept I had a reverse pivot and a weight shift problem. Once I accepted the problem and the "feel" and reasons of it, I was able to work constructively to fix it forever.
