I only hit 180-220 with a driver but am very straight, hardly missing a fairway so would like to know what the longest balls are thought to be?

Re: What's the longest ball out there?
hi
golf balls are limited in the distance they can fly by thee dimple pattern and the distance is set by the governing body's in golf, so most top brands fly the same distance if hit with Iron Byron or the Ping man robots.
its more matching the ball to your swing so the spin put on the ball by your driver gives the ball the maximum distance.
low spin balls do go longer but its only a few yards.
sorry i can't give you one ball that longer then the rest.
cheers

I found I gained some yards with both my irons and woods when I hit the Callaway - Red Logo ball. I think it is called "Big Bertha". Been playing it a lot, especially in the cooler and wetter times of our season.
On greens that are very hard and fast, I'll switch to a ball with more spin, usually a Pro-V, but I do lose distance on my irons when I do. It gets to be a bit of an issue for me. I am not good enough to stick it on top of flag sticks, so should I give up a half a club to have the ball stop quickly.

Srixon make a new tour quality 3 piece ball called the Z star, it comes in two types but the one in this link is for moderate swing speeds. I have tried them and they give impressive distance with great feel. Bit pricey though!

If you want a more budget ball then the Srixon Ad333 is a great all rounder quality ball.

Re: What's the longest ball out there?
Have you ever had your swing analyzed? Things to consider are your launch angle, swing speed, and ball speed. If you have a lower swing speed and ball speed consider the Bridgestone Golf Balls. If those are a bit higher, try the Titleist ProV1 (or x if you want a bit firmer ball) and equivalents. Getting compression is what matters most with those balls. They are designed to reduce driver spin rates.
Another thing to consider is your launch angle, shaft type and flex, and driver face angle. All things that effect the launch angle.

BIG LIG, I said the same thing in the earlier thread on this subject.

Everyone could offer suggestions as to what balls work for them but each person may have different characteristics and equipment, which affect the ball differently.
The following post discussed balls and gave a couple of websites which gave info on ball selection.

Re: What's the longest ball out there?
I found a Bridgestone E7+ and played it and really like it. Seemed to be carrying longer than my favorite Callaway and stopped a little better on the greens.
Of course, now I had to go and buy a dozen of them so it was a costly find.
I must switch golf balls a dozen times every year.
