  • Callaway Big Bertha balls. Are they superceded?

By accident I found a ball that really seems to suit my game. A Callaway Big Bertha Red. But when I went to buy a few, I could not find any new ones. Have they been superceded? Someone said cx3 hot but they are not the same at all. Can anyone advise me please.

they are an old ball, but they do turn up every now and again...

it's the same as the old Precept U-Tri series ball... superseeded years ago, but you can still find them if you look hard enough.

The Big Bertha Reds you use are for distance. the Blue has more control and a softer feel.

if you like the hard ball, you could possibly try a Callaway HX Hot Bite (green V), Titlist NXT Tour, or a Callaway HX HOT (red V... pure distance ball).

The ball has been discontinued, but as AGB says you can see them from time to time when a shop is getting rid of inventory. Also, as AGB says it's likely been replaced by a new generation improved model.

Thanks folks. I tried the hx hot but did not get the same feel around the green. Perhaps the hx hot bite might be the ball for me then.

all i can say is give it a go.. the HX Hot is a very hard ball. but if all your doing is trying to chase distance i don't think you'll find a longer ball on the market.. IMO...

i think you would like the Titlist NXT Tour.

Re: Callaway Big Bertha balls. Are they superceded?

i've had some NXT Extreme's sitting in my bag unused for probably over a year now. instead of using them i've always used different balls.

another ball you could try is a Taylormade Burner Red. i've got 1 of these floating around in my bag and on more than 1 occasion i pull it out instead of the more expensive TP Red.. the only time i notice the difference in the ball is it's stopping power on the green.

all these balls i'm listing should all be around teh same price range for you... here in australia they retail for about $4.50 / ball.... the TP red being the top of the line ball is about $8.50 / ball ($79 / dozin) and these are what i use.

when you do find a ball you like, stick with it, if you chop and change from game to game or hole to hole you won't get use to the way the ball plays.

Tried the HX Hot Bite now but did not get the same feel around the green. Has anyone tried those new Diablo yet?
