  • The Shaft

I'm 40 with a bad back that has been operated on so I do do not have to much elastic in me, the ole saying things don't work like they used to. Because of this I have a slow swing. I can get the club back behind level with the ground but definitly no John Daily. Would a set of graphite shaft irons increase my club head speed and would the stiff flex help on control

    Re: The Shaft

Graphite increases the mass of the club face while maintaining the same swing weight. Because the shaft is lighter, you get to put more mass in the head. So this does not increase your swing speed, it increases the force on impact.

If you are inhibited by physical means, and your swing slows, I would suggest decreasing he stiffness of the shaft...going from a regular to a senior flex. This allows the shaft to flex at slower speeds that gets you the reflex of the shaft at impact you want to add overall speed.

      Re: The Shaft

Thank you. This info helped clear up a lot of confusion on shaft material and club head speed.
