Hello guys.
As I mentioned in my introduction thread I am returning to the game after a 2.5 year hiatus. I went to the course Tuesday and I notice that I am able to hit driver and woods(anything that has a shallower swing that sweeps the grass) fairly consistently. Irons however, are a different story. Its very very rare I hit a good shot with anything longer than an 8.
My clubs are old, and I need new ones. Ill be keeping a putter and a SW and that is all. I am fairly certain a 10.5 loft driver will be good for me. I am curious though about hybrids. Given that I like a shallower sweeping swing, would they be better for me?. I hit 6 fairways and 0 GIR's the other day. I either top or wildly block irons to the right. I have read a bit and it seems like buying more irons would be foolish for this casual player who wants to maximize his enjoyment. I understand this will not be a cureall for poor swing mechanics, but am hopeful it will at least make my approaches something I have a chance at instead of something I dread. Either way I have some dues to pay at the range. Any thoughts or recommendations of some good clubs to look at?
