  • Best kept secret in golf.

I recommneded a certain driver to a member of my society - it arrived the morning of our next society day and he turned up with it still in its cellophane covering.
He said he couldn't risk using it without a range session, and I assured him he couldn't miss with it and to go ahead - he won the day. On the strength of that performance, another member of the society bought one, and won the next society day, 8 points better than the next best player (me!)
Now why don't I have one I hear you thinking . . . . . . well, mine broke and I tried to replace it with one which I thought was similar, but 5 times more expensive and herefore better . . . . I finally gave up with the new one after two years of substandard golf and went back to the old favourite, I used it on last Friday's society day and won.
3 out of 3, 3 different players, not bad. My club handicap is 14 but my society one is 9 and that's what I was playing off, the other guys that won with it are 26 and 19 handicaps.
The club in question is a Ben Sayers M1 offset 12 degree driver, you might find one for £20 if you are lucky, £29 if you're not.
Its so easy to hit its like legal cheating!
I've no axe to grind as you can see I'm not directing you to any particular website, its just simply the best piece of golf equipment I have ever bought in 26 years of playing the game, it just feels impossible to miss with it, espeically if you normally fade or slice, and most of us do, don't we?

Re: Best kept secret in golf.

I think the key is the 12* degrees. I call these drivers a 2 wood, and I think most beginning golfers would be well advised to use a 2 wood. Heck, even some non beginners would score better using a 2 wood. I have played with folks who have this Ben Sayers driver, and they did play well with it. Problem is I have never ran across this driver for sale in the states.

I still have an old Ping Eye 2, 12*, 2 (wooden) wood, which at the time it was being manufactures was one of the best clubs available for the higher handicap golfer. It is still in use with in my family. GJS
