I need to hear some real "dirt" on SeeMore Putters if anyone has any. If I don't hear something really bad about it's reputation, I think I am going to fork over more money than I spent on my driver and buy this high priced putter. Please, help me out, as my 6 grand kids are all starting back to school and need stuff...lol GJS

    Re: SeeMore Putters

    Hi GJS,

I guess you know how the SeeMore is supposed to work? Have you tried one at the store? I tried it and what it does is something you can train your stoke to do with any putter. I seem to recall the putter costs about $200.

I am a sucker for putters, having bought and sold, and still retaining several. I change from one to the other. They are all different, center shafted, heel shafted, mallet, blade, etc. I've been told that I'm a good putter, and my friends tell me I'm stupid for forever changing from week to week. I guess I want to be a super putter and I somehow believe that somewhere there is a magic putter which will make it easier to get automatic results.

That must be true because, whenever I go browsing at the golf store, I see something that looks appealing, and sure enough I hole out 12 putts in a row, so that putter must be magical.. However, it does not do that in play after I purchase it. It may be just ok (in lower case), but my expectations seem to be more.

Actually, I have been taking short game lessons, including putting and I am learning that there is more to be gained by doing the fundamental things correctly and working on those, than believing the magic bullet will help. I have gotten into bad set-ups and habits, and when I was instructed to basically change to what I used to do and learned to do when I started playing, the results were immediate. I thought, oh my goodness, no wonder I'm not feeling comfortable with any putter, as my set-up and motions are not allowing me to feel a natural stroke through the ball. One of the things was I was taking the blade back shut and could not let the toe flow through the stroke. The commentators were all over Mickelson this weekend with this problem, as he had a disastrous time putting. His coach Harmon is trying to get his shoulders more level, so the blade would not be as shut. You also have V J Singh in the second round not being able to release the putter, losing 4-5 strokes. On Sunday, he putted while looking at the hole, and that freed him up to putt quite well.

Regarding "old tech" simple equipment, look at Corey Pavin and Mark McNulty, who still putt superbly with the old blade Bulleye, and Faxon who still uses a 1960's era Ping Anser, but their strokes are sound.

Perhaps, a better spend of much less than $200 would be to purchase the Utley or Pelz books (depending on if you are an arc or pendulum putter) or some other video by a recognized good putting authority. The books would certainly be an entertaining and insightful read, I'm sure. My lessons at $100 per 1 hour are illuminating and I see instant jawdropping results. I'm confidently making quality chips and pitches I was not capable of making before, because of fundamental changes to my set-up.

GJS, I always enjoy your posts.

      Re: SeeMore Putters

I actually tried one of my buddies the other day while on the course. He wants to sell his. Yes, I know how they work with the little red dot and all. He has a hard time putting with it, but he also has a hard time putting with any putter he uses, so he is just looking for more golfing cash. While using his, I made some nice putts. My present putter still works well for me. I might just offer him a very unrealistic cheap price for his SeeMore next time we all pull into a gas station to fill up our rigs. We are all long time friends who travel around together. I already have those 2 books you mentioned, and few others. GJS
