  • Game improvement Irons question

I am considering getting a set of game improvement irons and not sure of what to buy. I have a problem of hitting fat shots alot and digging big holes and have been considering a set of ping G5's or some big berthas. I have been leaning towards a iron with a wide sole to help prevent digging. Yes I know that I have swing flaws that I need to take lesson and practice to help cure, but have been wanting to try some different irons. My main question is what kind of game improvement irons have other golfers had good luck with that is easy to hit without digging in?

    Thanks

You should separate the two issues.

You have some swing faults that need fixing and you probably know what to do about that.

You want some new clubs, that's OK lots of golfers like to get new equipment and if you feel better after then that's OK.

Maybe a visit to a club fitter would be a good start as they will be able to measure you and try different configurations that will determine what may be best for you.

I only agree with the "dont buy new clubs, have some tuition stand" as new clubs are not going to fix the above problem.

It`s a common error many golfers make, fat and thin shots. If you seek out a good coach he could help you explore how to apply the club to the ball more effectively and your current irons will be just fine im sure.
