  • Need help choosing rescue club

    Hi Guys
Here is what is in my bag: r11 Driver 9 degr , r11 3 wood and 5 wood - 15.5 and 19 dergr , 4 iron to PW , SW, GW and LOB W - 56, 52 and 60 degr. Ping zing putter.
I would like to either replace my 4 iron with a rescue, or maybe the 5 wood with a rescue.
Hitting the 4 iron ok, but not consistantly enough.
Any ideas as to what the best rescue would be to fill the gaps? 3wood distance 210m , 5wood 190 , 4 iron 170 - 175m.

Try 23 or 24 degree hybrid to replace the 4 iron.
    Manufacturer of your choice.
FWIW - I believe the TM Dual TP hybrid takes some beating.

I honestly don't know why people call for the magical "rescue" club when really what ever club gets you safely out of the particular lie is a rescue. But I was in a similar position as you in needing a special club suiting some of the peculiarities of my home course. We have a lot of tall pines and some savage rough. I ended up ditching the gap W and through in a really nice small headed 25*7W. This doesn't get caught in rough, climbs like a 9i and goes further than my 4i. I must say I really haven't missed the gap wedge.

The type of rescue club depends on your ability. The higher handicap golfer should use a fairway type hybrid. The better golfer can use the more iron-type hybrid. I also recommend the Taylormade rescue clubs.

thx guys , getting 23-24 degr to replace 4 iron looks like a good option. As I mentioned my 3 wood is 15.5 degr, 5wood is 19 degr and then the gap is to my 4 iron which is 21 degr (Burner 09 irons).

The 4i can get really useful in tight lies when accuracy is called for. If you drop your approach wedge and throw in a good hybrid or 7w I promise you you wont miss the approach wedge after a couple of games, but will hand you more options.
