I am thinking of buying a new putter as the one I have got is a cheap and nasty. Are there any particular things I should look for in a new putter?

Re: Putter Purchase Advice
There are many putters out there so try as many of them as you can. The putter that gives you the confidence to step up and you know it's going to fall before you strike the ball is the one for you.
There are many things to consider.
1. Price and Quality - you can spend over $400 on a putter and you can bet that that is an amazing putter, but you might be able to find one that gives the same results for $15.
2. Conventional, Belly and Long Putters - my suggestion is conventional putter, but for those that are too 'handsy' and can not break the habbit, I suggest one of the other so that you can learn to putt without using your wrists.
3. Face Inserts - face inserts can be made of metal, rubber, ceramic, plastic, glass, wood and more. These are all used to change the feel of the club. Chances are you will like at least one of them!
4. Putter Balancing - Face- Balanced, Toe-Weighted Balance, Forty-Five Degree Hangers, Heel-Weighted and Face-Weighted Putters and Heel-Toe Weighted - which is best? Read putter balancing to learn more.
Good luck!!!

Re: Putter Purchase Advice
Hi Gambit,
I purchased a Odyssey 2 ball blade at the begining of this season, it was my second putter change in 5 years and I have been so impressed that I think it maybe at least another 5 years before I consider swopping again.
Have a look although pretty expensive.
Good luck....

Re: Putter Purchase Advice
The Odyssey 2 Ball Blade was rated the number 1 putter on the market. The Nike Blue Chip Oz T100 was second and the Odyssey White Hot 2 ball and the Scotty Cameron Red X tied for third.

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.
I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.
For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.
Re: Putter Purchase Advice
The problem with putters is that they're a personal thing. I love the alignment system on the Odyssey putter, but I personally don't like mallet style putters - I'm a heel-toe man myself.
You could always go with the Ping DOC-17.
