  • Golf Glove Troubles?

I am going to have to buy another new glove this weekend, I seem to be going through them really quickly. I am wondering if I need a bigger one as they seem to always tear, either on the thumb or the pad of the hand? Any ideas???

    Thanks guys

    Re: Golf Glove Troubles?

Get someone at the proshop to help fit you. If you have big hands but short fingers, you may want to try 'Cadet' fit.

Also, different manufacturers gloves fit differently. You may be able to go to a slightly bigger glove in a different brand that suits your hand much better. I know for myself I use a ML glove and some brands fit just right but the fingers aren't long enough and others the fingers are long enough but the glove is too loose fitting. I found that the only brand that fit me right this year was the Taylor Made gloves. As my hands get fatter I will have to find something else that fits me correctly.

If you are wearing holes in the spots where you described it is due gripping your club too tight. It doesn't sound like your problem but just some further info to help anyone else reading this.

      Thanks Gord

Now that I think about it I always seem to end up buying the same make of glove (FootJoy). I have very long fingers but quite slender hands and the only size that fits my fingers is an XL but I have to really pull the sticker over to get rid of the slack in the palm of the glove. I will take your advice and ask for a different brand. The problem I find with trying on different gloves is that they are all behind the counter of the shop therefore one of the pros has to get one for you and they always seem to go for the FootJoy ones, and I don't want to create a fuss as it is always quite busy so I just take their word for it and hand over the money. I will see if a diffeerent better fitting glove helps stop the excessive wear and tear and also check to see if my grip has gotten too tight.

Can anyone recommend a glove that may fit my shape of hands?

Try the Taylor Made React gloves - seem to be made for the type of hand you have. They are expensive but definitely worth the extra money.

If you can, go to a golf supermart they usually have the gloves taking up a whole isle. This is where I spend about 2 or 3 hours each Spring testing our which gloves I will be using for the entire year. I buy 4 or 5 gloves so I always have extras in my bag.

Most exclusively golf stores have some sort of glove sizing device - try it out, then head to your department store and try some on.
