The Harrison Striper is a quality shaft and great value.

erm Gord, I hit my 7 iron 170, do you really think I should change to stiff shafts????? i like my R400's

Darryl, as I'm sure you know, the only reason to switch to stiff shafts is for accuracy. I am hitting my 9I 160 yrds and I haven't changed to stiffs. I'll keep my regular flex shafts in until I find something that can give me more consistancy than the shafts I have in.

And what is it that everyone thinks they need stiff shafts?? I don't golf with one person that has a higher swing speed than I do (108 mph with my driver) and they ALL have stiff shafts from their driver down through their irons. Then they wonder why the can't get any distance and shots are leaking to the right.....

                To everyone:
I hit my 9I 155 - 160 yards and still use regular flex shafts. Unless you are hitting over 150 yards with your 9I, (or you are under a 5 handicap), stick with regular flex shafts. I have no problems with accuracy (the only real reason to switch) so I'll stick with my current shafts.

I think people want stiffer shafts because the pros use stiff shafts. Don't be silly to think you can use the same equipment as the best players in the world.

Hey Gord, i just upgraded to a stiff set of shafts on the x18 pro. I think the stiff shaft feels great, and i have no problem with them at all. I also hit my PW about 130 metres. No probs with the stff shafts just the accuracy!

Another thing to consider is the ability of the player to "Load" the shaft. The stiffer the shaft, the less ability to load the shaft. I would say that is a player does not swing over 90 mph (maybe 95) with a driver then the player should stick with regular shafts.

I swing 100mph with a driver, and hit a bit over 160 with a 7 iron, with a lake ball if it bothers you! Btw Im 16 and played 18 months. What shaft do you reckon I should use as I dont mind sacrificing 10 yards for more fairways. (Odd I know for someone my age!)

If you are not worried about the distance, go with the shaft that will get you the most accurate. At your swing speed, you might be able to get a stiff shaft around, but a firm flex should probably do the trick. Too often I see people swinging stiff shafts and losing balls to the right - this is the major effect of swinging too stiff of shafts.

Your best bet is to have your swing analysed by a professional club fitter, let them know what results you expect and they will tel you what shaft and flex combo will work best for you.

Here's an idea, try the Callaway fairway woods with the Uniflex shaft, it supposedly suits all swing speeds by reacting to the swing itself.

Hopefully that will present you with the best combination.

What are some good firm flex shafts:

Right now my i hit my stiff shaft PW about 150 and my stiff 5i close to 200.

My driver is a regular flex and i find that when i swing decently fast i generate too much lag and spray every where.

You hit almost the exact same distances that I do. I just got a Harrison Striper with a firm flex put in my 3 wood and it is unbelieveably accurate and averages about 270 yards.

What is a good dealer in Wichita KS. I am looking to get a new driver of some sort. I need to go in and hit the heads that i am looking at in some different shafts. What about the Aldila NV, or the Grafalloy Blue, or is it personal preference.
