Hi again Al,
X14 are weighted more around the face for forgivness i.e cavity weighted.
X16 the weight has been lowered in the face with the new cornerstone weighting.
X18 are very similar to the X16s but look a bit smarter as they would.
the pro series are less offset and a thinner top line.
How you doing with your X14s????

The weather has been so bad down here in Atlanta that I haven't been able to make it out on the range to give these babies a try (ceiling fan does have a few dents in it though). I think it will be in the 60's this Saturday so I'll let you know how I like them real soon.

Definition: The distance from the frontmost part of the hosel to the frontmost part of the clubhead. At address, the shaft of an offset club will appear to be in front of the clubhead. Because it is. Offset may be found in any club. Many putters have offset to help the golfer have his or her hands ahead of the ball at impact. Offset drivers and irons can be helpful to players who slice.Comment

Offset is the term used to describe how much in front of the club head the hands will be.
Clubs with a large offset will put the hands markedly in front of the club head. A club with no offset will have the hands set level with the club head.
As a beginner, I chose offset clubs. As it stands, I may never get to a set that isn't offset!
The advantage to having offset is that your hands are in front of the clubhead at address, and so in front of the ball. With a good swing, your hands will stay in front of the ball (ie without flipping or scooping).
I would guess that something would be lost due to offset, probably a few yards distance, since your mechanical leverage is now slightly offset. This last statement is purely conjecture and is not knowingly based on any fact. Please feel free to correct me.Comment

Does that mean more experienced players would be more suited to non-offset clubs because of the fact they don't need the offset to minimize slicing as they probably don't have that problem?
Would that also mean that a pro would tend to hook more if they were to use offset clubs?Comment

yeah, pretty much. Usually players who are highly skilled get their hands quite far in front of the ball at impact, therefore do not need an offset club. If you look at a set of offset clubs you will notice that the offset will usually get larger as the irons get longer. The reason for that is simply because it is typically gets more difficult to get the hands out in front at impact as the club gets longer.Comment
