OK, I went and did it, I purchased a Ben Hogan 21* hybrid club; I should be getting it sometime early next week. I was thinking about getting a 24* also but decided I'd give this baby a try before I get carried away. If I like it ya' know a 24* will not be too far off.

I'd really like to retire my 3i and 4i eventually.

Thanks for all the great advice guys.

I have a Ben Hogan Hybrid 17* and of the tees it is great but I struggle to hit it of the deck. I must admit that I struggle to hit a 3 wood of the deck as well.

I am not quite sure if I should approach it as a long iron or as a fairway wood?

Get your protractor out of your math kit, sit your 7 wood in address (playing) position, and see what angle the face is at.

I have a Sonartec MD 2I/5Wd hybrid in my bag. As Pieter G said, it is great off the tee but off the turf ........ . I am learning where to place the ball in my stance to effectively hit this club from the turf. I would say another few sessions on the range and I will be able to hit the hybrid on the turf.

Unfortunately, I still can hit a 3 iron on and off a tee so it stays in my bag. I am not against replacing it someday when needed.

I have a 25deg (5iron) TaylorMade Rescue Mid, and its easily the greatest club ive ever hit, if a hole is too short to drive... out with the rescue, a par 5 second shot... out with the rescue, a missed fairway, you get the picture.
Definately improved my game, I'd advise anyone to at least try them.
