I have a problem with hitting my driver as I tend to slice big time. I have no problems with my irons including the long irons. I don't know why. Do you suggest I use a hybrid wood such as the Callaway Heavenwood 1H in place of my driver? How far would this hybrid go? I can hit my 3 iron 215 yards.

Re: Callaway Heavenwood 1H
Obviously there is a shaft issue with your driver. What is the shaft flex in your driver. In your irons? This is a common problem for people who use too stiff of ashaft in their driver. You can check with a local club maker to get a swing analysis done to tell you exactly what flex you require.

Sheesh, you need to get a driver sorted out. If you swat the 3 iron 215 then the driver could be a great weapon for you.
What make is the driver and what shaft is it, manufacturer wise? If you have a problem with the slice you might need a lighter shaft.

Sounds like the shaft is the problem to me- I had a similar problem with my 3 wood that had a stiff shaft and it just would not go straight at the least. Replaced the shaft to what I was using in my other woods, problem solved.

Dunlop Flame with mid-firm flex also slices like mad.
Strangely I have no problems with steel shafted irons. Why would I have problems with graphite shafted drivers?

Sheesh, see if you can get a shot of a steel shafted driver. Dont worry about distance, thats just Graphite shaft manufacturers hype, steel can go every bit as far. Try for a superlight steel shaft one that weighs around the 105-115 gram mark (True Temper Tx-Tour for example). You may find that the steel shaft is the better option for you.
I am surprised that the VFT is causing you problems. If anything Callaways shafts are on the lighter and whippier side compared to a lot of others. You could always get a Steel shaft thrown into the Callaway. You should be able to get one fitted for less than 50 bucks.

Check out Callaway's Memphis 10 uniflex steel shaft. I have one on a Steelhead driveer and it is real nice.
