i want to buy new clubs, but i like hitting all my irons. im not a flash hitter with the woods but they are different brands to my irons. my friend told me to just buy a good driver and a good putter. out of the 2 what would you recommend. i know you drive once a hole and make lots of putts more than any other shot. but im not sure what to do. my current clubs are tayler made (golden bear ) irons 3-pw and are of steel shafts and i have brosnan graphite 1 and 3 woods and a taylor made(golden bear ) 5 wood steel. and a king cobra putter semi circled head. any advice will be nice. cheers

Hi Wez,
Cobra make great drivers very forgiving and reasonably priced, the fairway woods are said to be the easiest to hit.
For a higher h/capper some lessons would be a better option before investing the best part of £500.00 in irons, lets say when you get to 20 h/capp you should have a good enough swing to be fitted properly for a new set that should last many years.
If it's affordable then most of the top brands make some great middle of the road clubs, Callaway make some great forgivness clubs......but the choice is yours.
Putters are the same, the better quality ones are generally better weighted and feel better to swing. Oddessey for me.

Get new clubs...........when you get your cap down...........remember.....eventually it comes down to you hit the shots....not the clubs!!Comment

If you're comfortable with your gear keep it. It's time to get new gear when you look down at your club, and aren't confident with it.Comment

Spend the money on lessons. Once you get your handicap down and the clubs are limiting your ability, then buy new clubs. Also, I wouldn't run out and buy a new set of clubs. There are plenty of good deals on high quality used clubs. Start with eBay if you are wondering where to look.Comment
