  • No slip grips vs Golf Gloves

Well it was pretty scary... Getting hot here and my palms were sweaty, hit my drive and caught my driver in the nick of time by only my thumb and fore finger still grabbing on and praying for the driver not to go flying...

I tried gloves before for the same reason and I can't hit the ball with a glove on. The always goes left (right handed hitter) and there was no distance. Calling it left doesn't mean anything I mean I couldn't hit the ball at all... IRONS OR DRIVERS

So leads me to the question. Should I invest in some good grips (and what grips are good) for the driver or should I take some lessons with gloves on?

    Thanks...

    Nanabush,

Fred Couples dosen't wear a glove..........

Tiger does, it up to you.

Most people are taught to wear a glove as it does have a valuble part of the golf swing in my opinion. Your left hand holds the club especially with the last three fingers, hence the leather glove to make good contact with the grip and hold on to it.

There has always been a teaching mith of holding the club lightly, this is correct to a degree, however you must hold on to the thing. People tend to squeeze the living daylights out of the club, that why it's always said "light grip" for me the wording should clearly be "relaxed but firm grip".

Golf Pride have some great grips on the market or if you like softer a feel try Lampkin, in the UK it cost about £30.00 for 10 irons.

    Hope this helps

    Ian.

I'm a fan of 'velvet' grips, but wear a glove also.

Cord grips or leather wrap grips are good if you're going to play barehanded.

Plus with cord grips, it's easy to tell when it's time to change 'em.

I am a big fan of the Lampkin Perma Wraps which are the same as the Golf Pride Tour Wraps. Nice tacky feel - really lets you swing without fear of losing the club.
