  • La Jolla Knife

I am currently looking to buy a new 3 wood, and maybe a 5 wood as well and I have to admit that the dreaded golf channel tv pro shop adverts have got me interested... Has anyone ever used the knife woods? Are they actually any good or is it all just golf channel rubbish?

    Thanks guys.

    Re: La Jolla Knife

Personally I wouldn't buy La Jolla Knife. I have a few friends that use them and they do like them, but the heads have also come off on more than one club too. Spend a little extra and get yourself a Taylormade V-steel. They are fantastic clubs, and much better quality

    Cheers.

      I agree with Lee,

Thoses adverts are so cheesy, as if the club can make a 28 h/capper suddenly start hitting greens from 200yds everytime with "The Knife"...................sorry a load of codswollop.

Find a three wood you like the look and feel of and buy that one......the V-steel are great but you do need to be a reasonably good golfer to hit one consistantly.

P.s stay away from the Golf Channel adverts, there bad for your golf.......lol

Well I guess I shouldn't be too surprised... Thanks for the replies I'll just have to get out there and try hitting a few different clubs to find one I like!

          Re: La Jolla Knife

I have a knife 5 wood and I think its brilliant. The head seems tiny for a wood but I get 190-210 yards with it off the fairways.

It is obviously not going to sort every aspect of your game but I have trouble with slicing my woods but I have not had that problem with the knife.

I paid £50 for it new so I am more than happy with the club at that price.

            Re: La Jolla Knife

My concern about the LaJolla Knife is this: can you swing outside-in with that ruddered sole?

My normal shot pattern is a draw (missed shots are hooks or pushes). Although I can't hit a subtle fade, I sometimes like to play a big banana slice when I overdrive the fairway on a dogleg left.

There is one such hole on my course where I can't hit a metalwood off the tee unless I substantially hook it. If I hit it too straight, I have to hit a big banana ball to have a shot at the green. Since the second shot is as long as the first (if not longer), this shot is also a metalwood or hybrid.

Can you slide across the ball with the knife sole?
