  • Mizuno MP-60 vs. King Cobra Forged CB

Any forged iron experts out there?

Which of the above two forged models represents the easier transition from "game improvement" cast stainless irons? Visually, these are my two favorites right now.

I will be purchasing only the 5-9 irons as I'll be going with hybrid long irons. If I go with the Cobras, I'll need to go one or two degrees flat, but the Mizunos look ok lie-wise. (The short iron lofts are too strong on both of them, but that's how it is today.)

Thanks. I'm Nifty Niblick, a recent retiree with a little time to play for a change. Too bad our season is winding up here in New England.

I play a set of forged Titleists havng switched from some cast cavity backs during the summer. I think you'll find the change worthwhile as the feel you get from a quality forged club when you hit a good shot is wonderful. As well as smiles, it'll probably help your distance control too.

I haven't tried either set that you've shortlisted but based on reputation alone I'd recommend the Mizuno's. Of course you should try them both, and any other candidates, before you take the plunge. I had my heart set on the Mizuno MP32's but bought the Titleists instead because they worked better for me.
