Time to upgrade. Well, re-upgrade. Last year I bought the Cobra SZ hypersteel 3 wood. I heard it was awesome, and it is. The problem is, it's WAY closed at address. So basically you have to try to slice to hit it straight. If you just set up square and swing it's a complete and total hook.

I'm guessing the club is for high-handcappers/slicers.

Anyway, I need a new 3 wood. I had a Taylormade 200. Couldn't hit it for ****. Maybe that was my swing more than anything, as I've improved a ton over the last year.

So what I'm looking for is something that sets up square and not clunky. Not necessarily super-"forgiving", either. I want something I can work.

My instinct is TaylorMade's V-Steel, but I've heard phenomenal things about the Orlimar VT-830 and the Nike Ignite T-60. And what about the Big Ben C455? Anyone hit this?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: 3 Woods

Hmm are you sure yougot a "normal" cobra?
    Mine is fine.
Maybe you are looking at the top of the clubhead rather than the sole and thus you think "hook" to yourself and it hooks.

I cant see how a clubhead can be open or closed by default unless you are doing something to it or its special. (offset etc)

Take a look at the TaylorMadeR540, nice 3 & 5 wood there for about $150 new

I don't know if Taylor Made offers it but I had a Ping driver that had a 3 degree closed face. They offered Neutral, Closed or Open. Maybe Taylor Made offers various degrees of face open/closed on their woods and you bought the closed face three wood?
