I am considering having my iron shafts spined or pured ,are the effects really all that beneficial or just aload of hype ? Is it possible for the amateur to do this without using very expensive equipment ?

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.
I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.
For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.
Re: Puring or Spining, beneficial ?
I won't build a club without spining (and once I've built my clamp, FLOing).
I think it's a benefit, especially in longer clubs. The point is to help get shaft consistency with all your clubs. So if they're all bending the same way, they all play more similarily.
