  • Wedge advice

I have recently got rid of my Mizuno MP wedges as I just couldn't get on with them at all. Therefore I am looking for a new set and want to make sure I get it right.

My home course is usually quite damp (It's Northern Ireland after all!!) and with my old wedges I seemed to always hit the ball heavy. Bunkers also consist of very coarse and compact sand.

I am looking at getting a 54* & 60* wedge to complete my set and need some advice on what bounce angles I should be looking at.

What levels of bounce should I consider bearing in mind the type of course I play week in week out? I really do not want to pay out for wedges that really will not suit me or the course I play.

If it's often wet, you'll need a wedge that has low bounce for the bunkers - you need to dig the sand.

As for the chunks in the fairway, a wider sole will help, and a little more bounce may help as well.

I'd probably say that 8ยบ of bounce should suit you for a dual purpose wedge (bunker and fairway).
