  • First round with new clubs

I've just received my set of Callaway X-16 irons, and very nice they are too - but having used my old set for more years than i care to admit (Prima Tour), I'm finding that while I strike the ball consistently with the new irons, i am tending to go right every time. It's early stages (only taken them out once), but wondered if this is a regular thing you see - or something you see with Callaways...
Maybe i just need reassurance having spent all that money!!

    Thanks,
    Marcus

I see this all the time, yes.

Probably the thing affecting this the most is the difference in shaft. A club itsself will not have much affect on the targeting of the ball flight, it will hit the ball higher/lower/better, but the aim is usually due to the shaft.

What is also a big consideration is that because you just hit them for the first time, you will have to hit them about 500 times before you can get accustomed to the new way they feel. Your old swing was tuned to the old clubs. You went from a vw-bug to a Lexus. It will take a little while for you to adjust.

      500 times?! But that's nearly 2 rounds!

Seriously though, thanks a lot - a good dose of peace of mind.
