  • Problems Removing Soft Fast Twist Spikes From Shoes

I have found a few off my soft spikes to be damaged so I decided to remove them. What a bad decission this was and I wonder if anyone else has these problems

The spikes which I am refering to are on the adidas AD75 shoe the so called fast twist fitting. These are near impossible for me to remove even with the spike tool which was supplied with the shoes. I was under the impression that these spikes should be quick to remove but there not

I can remove the conventional screw ones within seconds, where as it can take several minutes and sore fingers n thumbs with the adidas fast twist ones.

Does any one have this problem as well and how they overcome it or is there a secret special method?

    Cheers

My friend, you're in dire need of needle nose pliers.

I've got fast-twist sandals and Qfit shoes. I've got a cleat wrench (only useful for installing, IMO). I use needle nose pliers to remove. I just grab the spike and twist - ignore the holes.

      Amen.

I carry a Leatherman tool in my golf bag. Does the trick with no fuss.

Well, I'm here to tell you that if you soak the sole of those golf shoes in an inch of water for only 15 minutes, that soft spike will be 10 times easier to remove. Sure, you can mutilate it with other tools, but the safer route (for the shoe) is to use the proper tool. Usually, I find the dried dirt to be the main glue holding my spikes in. A little water softens it right up and removal is much easier, and safer. Good luck!

I don't wear my spikes very often, preferring a good comfortable walking shoe instead. The only time I do wear my soft spiked shoes when the turf is hilly and has moisture to avoid slippage. That, and when some courses require them over my walking shoes. What I do when I replace the spikes is put a little lubricant (Vaseline) on the threads before installing them. Later on when it is time to replace them the lubricant helps with removal. I also clean the bottom of my shoes thoroughly after each use. Since I don't wear them that often, removal, and cleaning is not that big a deal, or time consuming. GJS

If they are really stuck and the removal tool will not hold then you can drill two small new holes. This has always got them out.
