    weird problem

    ok i hit old blades a hellllllllllll of alot better than my super game improvement irons(ping g5s). i have an old macgregor golden bear 8 iron i was messing around with today, i could hit perfect everytime, dead center(grass marks showed so), i could hit it high...low...fade...draw, i pulled out my 8 iron thinking i might just be hitting good today....hit it like **** like ive been the last few days, also the grass marks were not in the center of the club....frustrating

    i only have the 8 iron to this set but ive checked it out on ebay and i can get the whole set 3-pw for under 50$ shipped

    anyone got an answer to why i can hit stupid vintage blades but not "easy to hit" irons? im thinking its the offset

    Well,

    Offset is one. Sole grind is another. MOI or swingweight is another. Grip size. Total club weight. Lie.

    If you're super with that 8 iron, why not get it blueprinted, then get an entire set made to match it? That's what I'd do.

      that sounds expensive(price quotes?)

      i can get the old set, but it would be pretty neat to get some new ones made

        I’ve a similar situation. I bought a set of Wilson Staff FG-49 Forged Blades, manufactured around 1989. Off Ebay, absolute bargain, when they turned up they were in fantastic condition, almost brand new.
        I bought these as a practice set. My theory was, use the blades, to improve my ball striking. So when I revert to my cavity’s (Mac VIP’s) I’d be hitting everything sweet!
        Like you, I’m hitting the blades so much better that now I don’t know whether to use the blades or the cavity’s?
        A pal of mine suggested:
        " The blades, obviously make you concentrate on ball striking more than the cavity’s do."

        Maybe that’s it… I’m hitting with the cavity’s and swinging with the blades. Knowing that I hit with the blades it’s going to "STING!"

          Blades are always going to give you better overall shots...feeling and workability then cavities. Weight distribution in the face is everything.

            Blueprinting isn't generally cheap - it involves taking all the specs down from your current club, then using everything at a clubmakers disposal to match the set to it. However, if you want the most consistent, probably best feeling clubs you've ever owned, it's the way to go. Just buying the set won't guarantee that you'll hit all the clubs as well as you do the 8.
