    Re: 2006 Golf Balls

I use the Ladies Precept MC. They get good distance, but more importantly, I like the way they come off the putter. Many of the men at our course use these during the colder weather as well.

I am partial to nike's as well. I originally used the super softs. At times because of my swing I found side spin imparted sent the ball off on a huge curve(slice). I did switch to the super far. also a softer ball. It seems to have less side spin and really gets out there. For me holds the green well and i can shape shots with it. love them both but super far appears at least to be more forgiving when my swing isn't exactly right. I love the feel of the Nike golf ball also.

      Have a great day!

        Re: 2006 Golf Balls

i somehting on tv once and can't remeber a lot, but it said that balls have a certain distance standard and they have the technology to make better balls, but are not allowed. they had a iron byron hit at a certain swing speed and the ball was not allowed to go past 320 i think with a ten yard tolerance..... that being said, out of all the new technology balls i would pick the one that feels the best for your play, low spin for high hndscp and high spin of low hndscpers, distance isn't really a factor. (with the new balls) there is a diffence between the new balls and old balls with dual core or whatever the old compostision of balls is.

I use a Pinnacle Senior ball, when I can find them. I also use Top Flight Pure Distance balls, which are more readily available. I just don't have the pin point impact I use to have, so I tend to stay away from balls that are easier to spin. In my game, the less spin the better, especially for the longer shots. I offset the spin that is usually required around the greens with higher lofted shots, that fall at a steeper angle, and don't roll very much after impacting the green. GJS

I mostly play Wilson and Pinnacle, since a friend of mine has a good source. The last bag had a bunch of Strata tour ultimates in it. Very sweet ball. *G*

I was reading this thread, looked up some reviews and checked out some Webpages and discovered that Strata got taken over by Topflite a few yrs ago? Then Topflite produced some Topflite strata TL balls, and even those are discontinued.

Soooooooooooo, no more Strata tour ultimate balls? I really started to like them very much...

              Hi guys,

Since I am only loosing 1 or 2 balls per round Ive been using the Bridgestone´s Tour B330. For the first time I have noticed the difference on a golf ball. Those babies rock when they land on the green !!

Have you guys tried them ??

thanks and greetings from Mexico !!!

I use HS Double Titanium. They sell for around nine bucks per dozen at a local department store. They are a hard ball and I get very good distance off my driver with them, however, they don't seem to get much roll off my short irons coming into the green. Anything 7 iron or shorter onto the green hits and sticks with no more then 3 feet of roll which is great for me because it allows me to attack the pin from 150 yards in without worrying about rolling off the other side of the green.

I found some Wilson HyperTi Gold Max Distance on sale. 10 Bucks for 15 balls and I like the characteristics for that price.

Pinnacle Exception those balls are priced mid-range go when they are hit. Stick when they are supposed to and last a LONG while. I am really happy with these bad boys.

Now, if I'm in the woods, and I see a new ProV1, I'll take it. But I don't buy from a re-supplier for actual play (I will for practice balls to give me a general idea of how I'm hitting the ball).

Plus, I bought 30 dozen MaxFli Rev Tours last year... so I've got about 28 dozen to play this year.
Low, you've talked about the effects of water several times in the past. I certainly don't mean to contradict what you've said. I'm interested to know what these effects are. What is the evidence of ill effects? On the surface it would seem that something made completely of plastic would be virtually indestructible. I'd almost think the worst thing would be UV exposure as that is well known to cause plastics to decompose.

As it turns out, although UV is one critical element in destruction of plastics, oxygen(dissolved in water), along with microbes and other stuff will eat through faster. One can dope plastics so that they absorb little UV light(e.g. sunscreen), but oxygen(and other small reactive species), can easily penetrate rubber(hence the reason you have to replace rubber hoses often). The presence of microbes on the surface of the ball is probably the bigger reason, and if you etch the surface of the ball, with spin rates approaching golf balls....weird stuff is gonna happen.
