Re: Replacing 3 iron with Hybrid?

Sounds great! I guess accuracy is a huge factor here compared to the 3i or 4i. For me I'm having some problems hitting the hybrid off the deck now (on range mats). Think I've been practising so much with hitting it off the tee (and practising a lot with the woods and driver) that now I seem to have problems hitting it off the mat. Just wondering, off the deck, do you guys still try to sweep it or hit down on it?

A hybrid should be hit the same as the iron it replaces.

I swing my hybrids the same way I do my fairway woods and get good results. I read from some instructor somewhere that you can play the hybrid as either a fairway wood or an iron.

Anyone got good recommendation for 3/4 hybrids to try? Im looking at say a 22 degree to replace the 3i/4i

After opinions on the Cleveland, the TM, the Mizuno and the Nike versions and especially the Sonartec MD which I used this weekend as a 4i replacement and loved it

              Good discussion gents,

Still trying out the 22 degree TM dual hybrid. Starting to sway towards trying the 19 degree. The former is equivalent to the 4 iron. I want to replace the 3 iron as I've taken it out of my bag. Would it make sense to replace it with the 19 degree?

What is better 19 or 22?

i replaced my 3 iron with 18 degree. it has a shorter shaft , so is easier to hit , but goes just as far.

I plan to replace my 4 iron with a 22 degree

I would hit a 5w where I needed a 3i. Im quite confident choking down an inch and taking a little bit off and personally I would rather carry more wedges

                    Well,

Today I ordered a 19 degree TM dual hybrid with stiff flex graphite as suggested by the pro. I found the reg flex too whippy.

                    Appreciated the feedback.

Played again last night with the Sonartec 22 deg. Man, what a club! Easy to hit it low, high, left, right. Going to go get me one today

I'll never use a 4i again. Whats the point

                        Paul,

If the pro's are doing it - the choice to changeover has its merits.

                          Fella's,

Only had it a week. Great piece of armoury - loving it. So versatile. Much more consistency than my 3 iron.

NB: I went with the Regular flex instead of the stiff flex.
