  • New clubs?

I have been playing golf for about half a year and i am roughly a 10 handicapper. When i bought my first set of clubs the golf shop professional advised me to get sole heavy cavity back designed clubs , which are for begginers do you think i would be better getting more advanced clubs if so can you give some advise on which clubs to choose.

    GGordon,

Your present clubs, do they go a consistant distance? Are the grooves wore down? Is the ball flight inconsistant (too high or too low)?

    ***NOTE:

I do a demo sometimes for different instructors. I have a 2 clubs from each each decade going back about 50 years. I even have persimmons. The new balls have made alot of difference but the clubs are pretty consistant.

If you take an old ball (wound balata and old) and hit it with a new club it will not fly as far as a old club with a new ball.

It takes alot to wear out a set of irons. A new set of brand names will have better tolerances across a set that clones but going from brand name to brand name. Not much difference.
If you have your heart set on new toys, try alot of clubs out looks are probably more important than the actual manufacturing process. Find out what feels good to you.
