i know there are drivers out there that lower the COG like the R7 by adding weights, but is there a way to raise the center of gravity that is USGA legal like lead tape or somthing?

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.
I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.
For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.
Re: raising the COG
Jeepers skywalker, how much higher do you want it?
The VCOG (vertical COG) is above the halfway point on the modern driver. This is why 'driver off the deck' is a much tougher thing to do these days - as you don't get to really find the sweetspot. But, if you really wanted to, you could add lead tape to the crown to raise the COG. The only thing is, I think you'd have to add a substantive bit to really move the COG. A couple strips won't really effect anything. (Yes, from a scientific point of view, the COG will move. From a playability point of view, it won't make a difference).

Re: raising the COG
the reason i ask is i am trying to lower the backspin..... i never had my launch angle measured, but it looks like it is 20-30* or so and my loft is 9.5 (lowest availible for my head) and i have a grafalloy blue high kickpint x-stiff, the only other think I can think of doing is raising the COG. other than lessening my body tilt. but is lead tape USGA legal?Last edited by lgskywalker37; 05-28-2006, 02:41 AM.
