My old driver: Adams Redline RPM 8.5 degrees, 460cc, Fujikara stiff shaft.
My old shot shape: big ugly slice... 150 yards straight, right turn, about 70 yards perpindicular to the target line. Yes if you have taken geometry you realize that is bad, very bad. (have rarely played in the rough at my courses' hole #1... usually get a pristine lie on the 9th fairway!)
My new driver: Big Ben Hogan CS-3 9.5 degrees, 420cc, draw bias, Adillia NV-65 Regular shaft...
My new shot shape: either nice and straight or a managable fade. occasionally one will look slightly like a draw. I just hit a bucket of about 50 balls and maybe 2 were slices (a whole lot less :-D)
My Reasoning: extra loft = less sidespin, smaller clubhead = easier to control and square (IMHO, it was hitting a driver with a 360cc head beautifully that convinced me 460cc is a bad driver for a new golfer), needed extra flex in shaft more appropriate for my swing speed and helps square face a tad, draw bias = I like.
Also, looking at a nice clean and shiny driver that doesn't ahve like 15 sky markes on it is very confidence inspiring.
No doubt my swing needs surgery, but this club is serving as some anesthesia to ease the pain until I get doctor'd.
