That's like asking if I should buy a BMW or Mercedes ...

The best thing to do is not pre-judge anything - go try both a store and buy the one that you feel most comfortable with. Nike and Mizuno are both fine manufacturers with a whole range of irons ...

I know you could whip me in an Austin Allegro even I had a Roller so how much difference [ignoring fitting] do clubs make to the average high handicapper?

On the one hand we are told that "you can't buy a game" and on the other hand advertising and the bar of public opinion suggest that, yes, some clubs do perform better than others.

I currently have a set of Top Flite XL 2000s which, oddly enough are 6 years old. User friendly game improvers at a knock down price, they've worn well and I think they were a good buy. However from time to time I consider a new "investment".

        Any thoughts?

                hi ms339
i would think a good half set of cavity back irons would help your game try and have them fitted too, or even a good second hand set as they will only last a few years before you will need longer shafts, so i would wait till then when about 15ish to get a real good set that are fitted. as at 15ish you will get another 3/4 years out them before you reach your full height and swing speed and can them spent more tome on shaft type and if a blade ir better. dont play with standered shafts in your clubs if your under 5"8 tall as your swing plane will be all wrong and you will have to make swing fit the clubs not the other way round.
                hope this helps
