i only have limited experience of these clubs but FWIW i can strongly recommend the cobra baffler 3R its 20 deg low C of G i have the 4r and use it off the tee,fairway and the rough and can rely on a good shot every time played par 5 the other week hit what must have been 200 yarder with slight draw to get on in 2
i wouldnt change mine for anything!

Thanks for your speedy reply! I have the King Cobra 460 SZ model, it is far and loud. My girlfriend won't hit balls next to me with that drivr since she finds the sound too distracting. I hit my old Taylormade R5 and it was so quite it was unsettling.

How do u know which club the hybrid was intended to replace... should I be looking for lofts between a certain range...

the baffler range is 3R,4R,5R,6R and as far as i know they are intended to replace the 3-6 irons.
i went for the 4R and had a custom set of irons made which are 5i-sw.
im hitting 190/210 with the 4R and thats plenty enough for me!

If it's a 'Golf Liquidation' Sale (red letters on a white sign, with a black magic marker indicating the location), you're in for a couple of nice bags, a couple of nice shirts, and no real discount pricing. The name brand stuff you see is full pop, while the clone clubs are just that... and built dubiously, I'm sure.

At any rate, back to your original question: I would buy the hybrid that is the 'next longest' in your iron progression. If you're hitting a 25° 5 iron hybrid, Then you may be looking for a 21 or 22° hybrid, which would replace your 7 wood. I aim for 4° gaps, pretty much across the board if I'm not doing custom bending for a customer. I have a guy that bent all his irons in such a fashion that he could drop his 3 iron. He now shares 60 yards between is his 4, 5, 6, and 7. He hits his 8 from 150, and then gets 15 yard gaps from there - hitting his 5 200 yards, and his 4 215.

This is the 'new trouble' with hybrids. They're not easily bent, and they may cause yardage gaps between your hybrids and your irons. Even switching makes of hybrids may cause a bigger yardage gap than you like.

Your post regarding the Cobra Baffler 3r, 20 degree stayed with me. So, I bought one today at a demo sale. For my driver I am definetly a stiff flex - I had to get my Cobra driver re-shafted as the regular flex wouldn't work. However, I am trying to finess my swing, more grace less power - so this Cobra is a regular flex and I won't know until the driving range if it will work - I don't trust those screens at the golf shops as they can be notoriously bad.

I also asked the same question when asking questions about the right hybrid to replace my 3 and 4 irons. The advice I got was to think of distance rather than loft, shaft length and type etc. You've got the yardages worked out for the clubs you've already got, therefore work out the gaps left and then try out the hybrids that would fill those gaps, unless of course you're just looking for a hybrid that would replace the irons for no other reason but ease and confidence of using the club. Some people, like me have difficulty using long irons and therefore look for replacements in the hybrids.
