  • C-Tour vs Rac LT2

Hello! I have narrowed my new iron search down to two clubs, the X-Tour and the Rac LT2!! Does anyone have any opions about these, especially in terms of forgiveness, feel, workability, value, and trajectory. I am a 6 handicapper and am looking for a club that is easy to work and provides a good amount of forgiveness.

Any other clubs I should be looking into??

    Thanks!

    Re: X-Tour vs Rac LT2

I've tested these recently when I was considering upgrading my irons.

    X-Tour
    Pros:
Very forgiving for a premium player iron. Great distance with a real pop of the face. Great looks excepting a thicker top line than you might expect.

    Cons:
Quite heavy, difficult to judge more delicate pitches and chips. The weight also produces a mid/high trajectory rather than low. Maybe not quite as workable as the RAC but it's a margin call on this. Expensive considering the alternatives.

    RAC LT2
    Pros:
Look stunning (but again with a thicker top line than you might expect). Very consistant in distance and easy to work. Good price.

    Cons:
Maybe not the distance of the X-Tours or quite as forgiving but only just. Also the flight is a little higher than you might expect due to the low COG.

At the time I tested about half a dozen irons, including the Mizuno MP-32 and MP-60 and Ping G5. I wanted to like the X-Tours but was a bit disappointed by them but the RAC's were up there with the best. I loved the MP-32's but know that my game isn't good enough to play them from anything other than perfect lies. For a forgiving better player irons I thought that the MP-60's were the best but the RAC's were a very close second.

I love my current irons and the difference big enough that I could justify ungrading so I'm still with my old set. Also my handicap is coming down (currently 14 but starting to shoot in the 70's on a regular basis) so I'll be waiting til spring.
